Connection issues between Tendy Scriptor and phones with Android 16

Important information & instructions for updating the Tendy Scriptor software to be compatible with Android 16

Updated over a week ago

Unfortunately, we must inform you that Tendy Scriptor may have issues connecting to phones that have been upgraded to Android 16.

This is due to changes in how Android 16 handles Bluetooth connections and is not something that can be fixed through the Tendy app.

For Android 16 to accept the connection, an update of the Tendy Scriptor’s internal software (firmware) is required. Follow the steps below to update your Tendy Scriptor software so it becomes compatible with Android 16 phones.

How to update your Tendy Scriptor to become compatible with Android 16

1 - Download the Tendy OTA app from the Play Store using the link via the button below.

2 - Turn on your Tendy Scriptor.

3 - Start the Tendy OTA app (Tendy BLE update).

4 - Click on "English"

5 - The app will now scan for your Tendy Scriptor device. Click “Upgrade” on the option named TendyXXXXX (example below: Tendy03179).

6 - Click on "Confirm"

7 - Select your Tendy Scriptor with the same name as in the previous example “Tendy03179”, and then click “Upgrade.”

8 - The app will now verify the update and update your Scriptor. Wait until the process is complete. Do not interact with the printer or the app during this process.

9 - The update of your Scriptor is now complete. You now need to change the device’s “Bluetooth name.” Click “OK.”

10 - The app will search for devices again. Click the “Change name” button on the option called “Bluetooth Printer.”

11 - Enter four zeros, “0000”, and then click “Pair.”

12 - The app will now automatically remember your Scriptor’s “Bluetooth Name”, for example Tendy03179. Click “OK.”

If the app does not remember your Scriptor’s “Bluetooth Name”, you should enter the name printed on the bottom of your Scriptor. It is important that you write Tendy with a capital T if you need to change the name.

NOTE! It is important that you DO NOT change the “Bluetooth Name.”

In this step, you may need to change the “Baud rate” depending on your current firmware. You can check which firmware your Scriptor has by printing a self-test. Do this by pressing “Settings/Gear icon” once until it shows Information, and then press “Print.”

If your Scriptor firmware is: 20250512_M07, the baud rate should be: 115200
If your Scriptor firmware is: 20240514_M01, the baud rate should be: 318750

13 - Your Tendy Scriptor is now updated with new firmware that allows you to connect to the Tendy app using an Android 16 phone.

Click “Exit the program.”

14 - Turn off your Tendy Scriptor for 10 seconds and then turn it on again.
15 - Go into the Tendy app and add your updated Scriptor.
16 - Your Scriptor is now ready to be used with Android 16.

If you still have problems syncing or printing with your Scriptor after following this guide, please review the points below.

• Have you disabled battery optimization for the Tendy app? This is a very common issue on Samsung phones.

• Is Bluetooth activated for the Tendy app?

• Have you allowed the Tendy app to use location services?

• You should not add your Scriptor through the phone’s Bluetooth settings. If you have done so, you should forget/remove the device from the phone’s Bluetooth connections.

• The device name during the update must be exactly the same as written on the back, for example Tendy00636. It must have a capital T.

• The Baud rate (step 12 in the guide) must match the printer’s firmware.
 • You can print a self-test from the printer to see which firmware your printer has. See the image below for where you can find this information on the printer’s self-test. For example, the printer self-test shown below has firmware version 20240514_M01, which means the baud rate should be: 318750.
