How to create an inventory item

In Tendy, an inventory item is created when you print a label with a QR code. This guide walks through the steps - from the home screen to a finished item in your inventory.

1. Open the quick action menu and select "Print"

On the home screen, tap the green + button in the center of the bottom navigation bar to open the quick action menu. Then tap Print.

2. Choose a category - or an animal profile

Select what type of item you want to create.

  • Under the Categories tab, choose between Game, Livestock, Fish, Mushrooms, Berries or Free text.

Under the Animal profiles tab, you can instead choose an animal you have already registered. The cut will then automatically be linked to the animal profile, so the full traceability history is included on the label.

3. Select a cut

Browse available cuts and tap the one you want to print. Use the All / Standard / Custom tabs to filter. Missing a cut? Tap Add custom at the top to create one.

4. Choose a label template with a QR code

Tap the dropdown at the top to select a label template. To save the item in your inventory, you must choose a template that contains a QR code - these templates are marked Saved to inventory.

Templates without a QR code only print a label and do not save anything in the inventory.

5. Print the label

The preview shows how the label will look, including the QR code and the information related to the item (weight, price, packed date, best before, etc.). When you are satisfied, tap Print.

6. Choose storage location and save

After the label has been printed, you will be prompted to choose where to store the item. Select a storage location from the dropdown (e.g. "Freezer") and tap Save.

7. Done - the item is now in your inventory

The item appears under the Inventory tab, grouped by its category or animal profile. The counter at the top shows how many storage slots you have used. Tap a group to see individual cuts and their details.

Scan the label later

When you or someone else scans the QR code on the label later - in the Tendy app or with a regular phone camera - you are taken directly to the item. This is how Tendy connects physical packages to digital information.
